How to set up recurrent tasks?

With the recurrence feature, you can now automate repeating tasks directly in Holaspirit, helping your team stay on top of recurring work with less effort and more reliability. This feature is designed to keep your workflows smooth and consistent by creating new tasks only when needed, while preserving all the important details of the previous one.

How to Add Recurrence to a Task?

You can set a task to repeat directly from the Due Date section of the task.

  1. Open the task
  2. Click on the Due Date field
  3. Choose a recurrence type from the available options: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly, Custom
  4. Set the start date (and optional end date), and confirm.

That’s it—your task is now recurring!

How It Works When a Task Is Created?

Once you’ve set a recurrence, here’s what happens behind the scenes:

  • Automatic creation only after completion: A new task is created only when the current task is marked as done.
  • No skipped tasks: If the previous task is overdue and not completed, the system won’t generate a new one—ensuring you don’t miss important steps.
  • Data is carried over: Each new instance of the task inherits all key information (Title, Board and column, Assignee(s); Due/start/end dates, Recurrence setting, Labels, Attachments, Progress bar, Sub-tasks (and their content), Comments, Activity log, Privacy settings)

Works at all levels:

  • On any task, whether part of a board or not
  • On parent tasks (projects) or sub-tasks (actions)
  • Even if the task has just a due date, or a full date range

Sub-task Recurrence

If a sub-task is set as recurring and is marked as complete, the new instance will appear in the same sub-task list under the parent task.

🧠 Good to Know
  • Manual task duplication does not carry over recurrence settings.
  • Changes to the recurrence rule only apply to future occurrences (not retroactively).
