👉 OKR custom timeframes are included with the Scale and Enterprise plans. Find out more!

Because not all organizations follow the same strategy, tailoring OKR timeframes to its needs can make a big difference. Holaspirit makes it possible to manage and customize OKR timeframes that will be available to all members in your organization.

About timeframes and frequencies

OKRs typically work with a combination of frequencies that interact with each other to create a rhythm of continuous and focused progress. You have a high-level goal with a longer horizon (Company OKRs), that can only be accomplished by working toward smaller goals with a shorter horizon (Circle OKRs).

To make it simple:

  • A timeframe is the overall duration of an OKR, built from a series of recurring frequencies.

  • A frequency is a single date range used to set the time in which the goal should be achieved.

  • A start date is the date on which the frequency takes effect.

Tip: Keep timeframes consistent across your organization to ensure all circles are coordinated and aligned. Start simple and grow as you learn!

Access the OKR timeframes settings

👤 Only Admins can set up and manage OKR Timeframes for their organization.

To access and manage your organization's OKR timeframes:

  • Click on your profile icon and select Administration

  • In the Apps section and select OKRs

  • Scroll down to the Timeframes section

📌 Note: This section allows Admins to visualize the number of OKRs using each timeframe.

You'll start with the following OKR timeframes, set up by default:

  • Monthly (1 month)

  • Quarterly (3 months)

  • Quadrimesterly (4 months)

  • Halfyearly (6 months)

  • Yearly (1 year)

If you wish, you can decide to edit the default timeframes and change their name and start date to fit your organization's strategy.

Add a custom timeframe

To add a personalized timeframe:

  • Click on the Add a timeframe button

  • Choose the name of your OKR timeframe

  • Select its desired frequency

  • Choose its start date

  • Click Create to confirm

📌 Note: You can freely customize the frequency and the start date.

Edit or delete a timeframe

To edit a custom or default timeframe:

  • Click on three dots next to the desired timeframe

  • Select Edit Timeframe

  • Once you've made all the necessary changes, click on Apply to active OKRs so all the OKRs using this timeframe are modified accordingly

To delete a timeframe:

  • Click on the three dots next to the desired timeframe

  • Select Delete Timeframe

Once deleted, a timeframe won't be available for users when creating or editing OKRs anymore.

Deleting an OKR timeframe from the settings will not affect the OKRs using it, the timeframe will remain the same. However, if the timeframe is modified, users won't be able to go back to the deleted timeframe.
